What Celebrities Collect
Everyone and each of us are interested in many things and we choose to collect some of them. We hear about collected stamps, for instance, all the time, but today celebrities offer us their alternative!
Woopie Goldberg is famous for collecting Bakelite jewelry. Bakelite was a type of plastic that was used in the 1920s and 30s to make jewelry. The majority of that jewelry was made out one block of plastic, hence of one color, and now this kind of vintage jewelry is rated very highly! Goldberg's favorites mostly include bracelets, which one can catch her wearing quite often.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, famouse for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, collects something entirely different. She likes to shop at Heritage Bookstore and has an impressive collection of antique books. Gellar even told an interviewer, “I cannot go into the Heritage Book Shop without buying something. I joke that it’s my church. Whenever I’m having a bad day, I can go in there and look at these books and get completely lost in the old, illustrative art.”
Quentin Tarantino, known for his Kill Bill films, is closer to pop culture than a lot of the celebrities with his collection focused on TV-show based board games. His favourite board game by far is Dawn of the Dead and Universe. In the past, Tarantino used to collect lunch boxes, but ultimately gave up, as the price was those was higher than the director was willing to pay.
An actress Reese Witherspoon, whom we all remember very well as Legally Blonde, is also known for collecting antique. In this case, however, it's linen. The actress is also very fond of old embroidery. These serve as just more proof of Witherspoon's impeccable and sophisticated taste.
Tom Hanks seems to be the winner here with having collected almost 200 manual typewriters so far. Because of Hanks' dedication almost all the typewriters in his possession are functional. During his tour for the film Larry Crowne, he had to leave the collection behind, but he still managed to take the Coronal model with him. Furthermore, throughout the trip he posted a few pictures of him with Corona showing us what great times the two had!
